Biatec presents the new edition of its iconic Corsair pilot’s watches
Around nine years after its initial release, Slovakian watch manufacturer Biatec announced the reissue of its unique Corsair pilot’s watches in a five-piece vintage collection in March 2024. Like the original models from 2016, the 40-millimetre timepieces feature an open case back and sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. Inside, a Swiss Sellita SW200 automatic movement with a rotor specially made for Biatec in the shape of a three-blade propeller sets the pace.
Our inspiration for the Corsair collection was the legendary F4U Corsair, which is still considered one of the most impressive American fighter planes of all time.

The new Corsair collection features large hour and minute markers, fully printed hour numerals with Super-LumiNova coating and a genuine aviation-style calfskin strap with rivets. The large diamond crown with the Biatec logo is reminiscent of the early days of aviation, when daring pilots still had to wind and set their pilot’s chronometers in the freezing cold in open cockpits with thick leather gloves.

Inspiration for the Corsair collection
The Corsair Vintage collection is a reminiscence of the Vought F4U Corsair fighter aircraft of the same name from the US manufacturer Vought Aircraft. The legendary single-engine low-wing aircraft with its characteristic bent wings was used as a carrier aircraft by the US Marine Corps and the US Navy, particularly during the Pacific War in the Second World War.
The legendary Vought F4U Corsair
From 1940 to 1953, a total of 12,581 aircraft were built in various versions. Later – at the beginning of the 1950s – the fighter aircraft with the powerful Pratt & Whitney 18-cylinder twin-star engine was used in the Korean War and in the late 1960s in armed conflicts between Honduras and El Salvador.
Today, only a few airworthy examples of this unique veteran aircraft still exist worldwide. One of the best-known aircraft still flying belongs to the Flying Bulls in Austria. The top-restored Corsair of the Alpine energy drink producer with the registration OE-EAS is one of the big attractions at Hangar-7 at Salzburg Airport and at airshows throughout Europe.
