Swiss Made Watches for Enthusiasts

Formex is an independent, family-run watch manufacturer based in Biel-Bienne, the cradle of Swiss watchmaking. The company is founded in 1999 by brothers Hanspeter and Ferdinand Grädel in Lengnau, Switzerland. With its roots in high-end watchmaking, Formex designs and manufactures timepieces that meet the highest quality standards in the industry.

The suspensions of fast racing cars and motorcycles inspire Hanspeter and Ferdinand to develop a unique case suspension. The two watch enthusiasts develop the now patented Case Suspension System – today a feature of all timepieces from Formex. It protects the movement from hard impacts, offers more wearing comfort on the wrist and also impresses with an extremely appealing look – robust and sporty.

High-end manufacturing and an innovative distribution model allow us to offer a first-class Swiss luxury watch at a unique price.

Time for extreme sports

In 2015, Formex is acquired and restructured by Swiss extreme sports enthusiast and entrepreneur Raphaël Granito. Granito expands the portfolio, optimizes the distribution concept, and brings both the development and the manufacturing of the timepieces directly in-house. Moreover, with his sporting lifestyle as a downhill skater, racer, snowboarder, freediver, surfer, skydiver and paraglider, he embodies Formex’s claim to speed, precision, mechanics and adrenaline like no other.

First-class Swiss Made quality

In addition to their special case suspension, Formex watches are characterized in particular by unusual manufacturing materials, straps and strap changing systems, as well as innovative clasps. For example, certain models feature a case made of carbon fiber composite and ceramic or a patented clasp that can be adjusted on the arm. Formex enjoys a high reputation among enthusiasts of high-quality and exceptionally designed sports and pilot watches. All watches are designed, developed and assembled at the company’s headquarters in Switzerland. They meet the strict Swiss Made requirements that came into effect in 2017.
