Temption — derived from tempus et functiones — was founded in 1996 by the engineer, entrepreneur and watch enthusiast Klaus Ulbrich in Herrenberg near Stuttgart in Baden-Württemberg. The Swabian watchmaker focuses on the production of visually appealing yet functional wristwatches. The design of the timepieces is based on the one hand on the school of Wabi-Sabi, the Japanese art of finding beauty in imperfection and modesty, and on the other hand on the Bauhaus style, the German design school founded in 1919, which aims to eliminate the difference between fine and applied art.

The ticking pieces of jewelry from Temption are ergonomic, minimalist and simple, consistently dispensing with anything superfluous. The brand’s design always follows the function, playing with contrasts in color. The dials are ergonomic and easy to read, the logo discreet, almost hidden. The central hour and minute display take center stage, with all other displays subordinate. Temption traditionally uses high-quality Swiss movements. Some models in the exclusive collection shine with inlaid cabochons — gemstones with an evenly curved top — on the crown and on the chronograph pushers.

The chronometers from Baden-Württemberg are primarily sold in the USA, Hong Kong and Japan. All models are developed and produced with the utmost care and attention to detail. The exquisite timepieces crafted by the boutique watchmaker are meticulously produced in limited quantities, embodying the ethos of prioritizing quality over quantity.
