Classically elegant timepieces from Italy
Perseo is a watch manufacturer founded in 1927 by Italian watchmaker and entrepreneur Alfredo Degli Esposti, whose brand name is derived from Greek mythology. Perseo, pronounced Perseus, is the legendary Greek hero who defeated Medusa, a monster with snake hair. The company achieved fame at a very early stage, when at the end of the 1920s it started supplying pocket watches to the Italian state railroads – and, incidentally, has remained their supplier to this day.
In the 1960s, the brand was acquired by the traditional Swiss watchmaker Cortébert, while successful distribution remained in Italy under the management of the Fernus family of entrepreneurs based in Bologna. Timepieces from the house of Perseo are not only popular with the railroads. Among others, chronometers are also ordered by the Italian Football Federation, by the Milan Transport Authority and by the Egyptian Tramway Company in Alexandria – and, of course, by many private watch lovers worldwide, whether everyday users or accomplished collectors.
The Perseo brand name is a guarantee of quality in the world of watchmaking.
